I will fill this in more as I play more, but for now this is my lore for Val; it is very subject to change as I learn more about the story of FFXIV and the in-game lore that might affect Val.

  Val was born in Gyr Abania, in a small camp along the roads out of the region; their parents among those fleeing the fighting of Ala Mhigo to try and give their baby a life free of war. The family continued travelling, though they never settled in one place long enough for Val to truly call it home.  When they were just 7 years old while staying with their parents in Thanalan, Val had a vision of falling stars; The Echo. With this vision something inside of Val awoke; it cried out and pulled for itself and Val found themselves falling into darkness, unable to stop whatever had come over them.
  When they awoke they found they were somewhere unknown, having been suddenly pulled from The Source into The First.
There they grew up with no real place to call home once again until they wandered into the realms of the Pixies. Val was happy to play their games and shared much of the mischievous chaotic temperament of the Pixies. In particular, a Pixie named El Uris took such a liking to Val they decided to take Val under their wings, to teach them and show them how to protect themselves and those they cared about.  Val was 16 when they were found by an Ascian. On a rare trip into one of the towns to gather some supplies for themself, the Ascian spotted the teen and watched on while Val fought off some wannabe thugs and had recognised the lingering aether of an ancient within Val.
  The Ascian had intended to bring them to Elidibus or Emet-Selch on The Source so they would be able to figure out who Val had once been and to get them to rejoin their brethren. However they had not planned for how hard it was to keep track of Val who at the first available moment after being teleported back to The Source escaped and disappeared.  Back in a place Val had not seen in near on ten years, nor had ever dreamed to see again, they quickly stole away on a nearby caravan. Hiding with the passengers onboard, uncaring of its destination so long as it was away.
  With luck, the caravan took them to the city of Ul'dah where they were able to further disappear inside its bustling streets. And with little options to them outside of trying their luck with thievery, Val instead opted to reach out to the Adventurer's Guild and signed up to study under the pugilists guild.  From travelling the length and breadth of Eorzea, to fighting their first, second, third, primals, Val has just been trying their hardest to not disappoint the people around them.

Note: Val would have a completely flat chest.

I'm Fallen / Luke, a freelance artist from Australia.
I love a lot of nerdy stuff, pretty much anything fantasy-based, and crime shows/podcasts, and I definitely drink far too much caffeine.
Currently I work as an in-home disability support carer and like doing art as a hobby to earn a lil extra cash to buy treats for me and my pets.

I am only up to starting Shadowbringers.
But I know the basic gist of the story as I initially watched a friend play through the game, however I am mostly unknown on when exactly things happen so for the most part try not to outright spoil fun bits please.✧ I'm always happy to get a /tell (if I dont reply I might just be afk briefly)
